DUMB IT DOWN

"It is difficult being gifted because most times, people don't understand what you are saying, when you are saying it."-Earl "DMX" Simmons

"Just because nobody can't understand how you speak, don't neccessarily mean that what you be saying is deep"-Talib Kweli Greene.

We live an "INSTANT" world. Instant chocolate, instant coffee, viagra(instant hard-on), Rampant Rabbits, At-your-door-pizza-delivery, microwave ovens(instant heat), GOOGLE(instant research), fast cars, even faster women. Kids cant be bothered. To put it rightly, kids can't be arsed. They can't be arsed to write "can't be arsed" so now they text it as "cba".

The afore-mentioned makes life easier(for some). At the same time, it has made a host of us more impatient and/or easily irritated. Worse of all, the instant-culture has made it virtually impossible for people to engage their minds.

At a young age, lot of us accept life as it is, not how it could possibly be. Being intelligent or acquiring knowledge is labelled as "boring". We can operate the remote control blindfolded and see nothing wrong with that.
Everybody wants to know what goes on in the high places but we refuse to watch shows like Question Time. Our excuse is, we don't like politics.
We don't watch the news, because it's miserable and full of war-mongering.
We don't watch Eggheads or Quiz Shows because they are for nerds.

We pass everytime there's an opportunity to learn something. Put on a show like Made In Chelsea, Jersey Shore, Big Brother or anything like that and ratings shoot through the ceiling. That's not to say there's anything wrong with these shows, that is to say there's everything right with watching something that stimulates the intelligent mind.

People know characters on TV better than they know their own family. They go online to check the next moves of make-believe characters in future episodes and totally ignore their own lives. To them, it's escapism.

In the words of Rapper Drake, people are "living other people's lives instead of having a life of their own". He blames social networking and TV too. How true.

You know what they say;life is short. So then, why don't we maximize our few days instead of wasting it getting "wasted"?

Nobody is perfect. There is no need striving for perfection, that will be an exercise in futility. At the same time, it is inexcusable to waste time because we can't replace time.

It is not about just studying or reading a book. Hit the gym, learn kung-fu(learn to kick ass), join groups, just get off your butt and move something.

The most amazing thing is that the people that seem to promote shallowness are the ones that are most clever behind the scenes.

For instance, there's a story about a celebrity that faked a wedding. Fans and media alike contributed in making her an £11M profit from that wedding. The divorce was announced after 72days. That is good business, if you ask me.

Rich men get poorer men to use their minimum wages to call and text really baseless TV programs to select people they don't know to "win" shows. The rich men get cuts from the texts and calls(of course) and the poor man doesn't even know if his "vote" was counted or not. How nice.

So they say to me "Lenny, there are too many sleepers, you can't wake everybody up".

I tell them this story I heard in return:

A little boy walked across a beach picking up star fish that were too far from the sea. He picked them and threw them back into the sea. A "wise" man asked him, "what are you doing? There are too many star fish to pick up". The little boy replied "well,if I make a difference to one star fish, that's all, that's all, that is important".

So like Lupe Fiasco said "they asked me to calm dumb it down cousin, but I flatly refused I ain't dumbed down nothing!!".......
