ARSENE KNOWS?

Truth be told, this would have been written even if Arsenal had not lost 8-2 to Manchester United(aren't we tired of that already!).
Truth be told, this would have been written had Arsenal not sold M. Almunia,S. Nasri and F. Fabregas,M. Eboue and replaced them with C. Jenkinson,A. Oxlade-Chamberlain and the pair of pre-teens from Barcelona.

That is enough truths,so let's move on to the tall tales allegedly told by a long-nosed,particularly lanky gentleman.(No reference to Pinocchio).

They say Mr A. Wenger repeatedly "assured" fans of marquee signings.
They say he took fans for granted when he insisted neither Fabregas nor Nasri will leave the Emirates this year.

He gets criticized for having an unwritten rule that any player over the grand old age of 30 is past his peak and therefore does not get more than a twelve month contract extension.

Or that Arsenal is so prestigious a club that potential signees and their host teams have to accept whatever price that he, A Wenger estimates that player.

Then there is that invisible but existing salary cap of some sort at the Emirates.

Then there is the issue of thriftiness, probably born out of years of studying Economics. After all,Arsenal FC had first refusal rights and therefore could have had players such as Juan Mata,Zlatan Ibrahimovic,Cristiano Ronaldo and Didier Drogba.

So,is Mr A Wenger intelligent for seeing big-spending as stupid or is he a very stupid person's idea of what an intelligent person is?He is intelligent. He is Arsene Wenger.

A Wenger easily is the best thing that has happened to Arsenal FC in recent years(depending on how you define recent).

People talk about how he has not won a trophy for six years and counting, yet they conveniently forget that he is the reason that they have observed that in the first place.
Arsenal FC is not swimming in debt.

An attractive, sometimes breath-taking attacking football philosophy has ensured that the seats at the brand-new Emirates are filled consistently.
Wenger has brought in minnows and made mountains out of them and reaped unbelievable profits from re-selling them. The money does not go into his pocket.

They do forget that not too long ago Arsenal was playing second-fiddle to Tottenham Hotspurs(true).

So finally,Wenger spends some money and 'analysts' still have a problem with him.He needs "leaders",they say.G Cahill, would have been a better signing than a German with no premier league experience, they say.

Per Mertesacker has played for Germany 75 times, has captained Werder Bremen. How do they two compare?Chu-Young-obviously will increase revenue coming in from the far east-but he is still the captain of the Korean National team. And one fine player, let's not forget.
Mikel Arteta has captained Everton (alongside Phil Neville though) and has played in the Premier League for years.

So when they say the want players with "premiership experience" and "leadership",have they even got a point?

Come end of the season, would the fans be singing "Arsene Knows" or "spend some *&%$ing money"?Your guess is as good(or as bad as mine).
